If you are fed up with wires running to and from your computer for all those accessories and necessary components, you might be weighing the advantages and disadvantages of going wireless. Unfortunately, there will still be those who might try to convince you that wireless components such as a keyboard and mouse are not as fast or reliable as their wired counterparts. Is that true?
Perhaps it would have had merit just a few years ago, but in 2016 something happened to change that ‘reality’ forever. That was the year that Logitech launched the G900 Chaos Spectrum wireless mouse they billed as the “fastest mouse on the market.” Here, you will note that they didn’t say the fastest wireless mouse, but the all-inclusive “fastest mouse.” It was more than marketing hype as the G900 lived up to its promise and since that time, Logitech has partnered with other leading brands such as Lenovo to bring similar advances in wireless technology to other brands and products.
1. Safety
How many times have you tripped over that USB cable leading from the PC to the keyboard when your child calls you over to help them understand the homework they are doing? Or perhaps you had to get up quickly to answer the door only to catch your toe in the cable, landing unceremoniously flat on your face. Safety is a huge concern and one of the most important reasons for using wireless components like Lenovo Kids Keyboards that can be found in both wired and wireless models.
2. Aesthetics
While this may not be important to you, those unsightly cords and cables running to and from your PC are anything but nice to look at. In fact, they significantly detract from the décor of any room your computer resides in and that is often reason enough to go wireless. This is especially true of accessories such as printers, scanners, crafting equipment like Cricut cutting machines. If you purchase accessories that are Wi-Fi or Bluetooth capable, you will no longer have that issue.
3. Mobility
What about that wireless headset through which you can issue commands or create documents with the speech-to-text feature within MS Word? You are no longer held captive in front of that monitor because you can move freely around the room as long as there is sufficient strength in your signal from the router. All those accessories such as those surround sound speakers and your wireless all-in-one printer can be located anywhere in the room as long as they can communicate with your system.
Dealing with That One Fly in the Ointment
There is, however, one source of irritation you should be prepared to deal with and that would be battery life. Just when you are in the middle of a heated battle in a warfare game or having a lovely conversation with a friend on social media chat, your keyboard batteries decide to die. Since you know that a wireless component is not hooked directly to a power source, it is suggested that you keep rechargeable batteries fully loaded to change out at the beginning of each day or game. Something as simple as that is easy to avoid, so if you get in the habit of changing your batteries often, you won’t have a problem with connectivity.
